GOLF: Today play Fancourt - The Montagu. Designed by Gary Player and remodeled in 2004 by David McKlay-Kidd (Bandon Dunes), the Montagu is South Africa's best parkland golf course. With the highest levels of conditioning and true championship layout, The Montagu at Fancourt sets the standards by which all other courses in South Africa are measured.
Non-golfers have their own private guide and vehicle on golfing days. In each region, the guide will plan a full day of activities covering the best points of interest. Special interests of the group will also be taken into consideration giving the most personalized experience possible. There are 3 full days of touring planned on the Garden Route.
SIGHTSEEING: The Garden Route and Little Karoo's natural assets will have you question ever wanting to leave this idyllic spot! The Garden Route and Little Karoo spans from Witsands whale birthing haven in the West to Plettenberg Bays beach, polo and party-going pleasures in the East. Then there’s the arid geological basin along the interior, wedged between the fynbos-rich Heidelberg in the west and Uniondales eastern sheep farming and rock art treasures. It's all about an abundance of blue skies, white sand beaches, rolling oceans, mountain scenery, indigenous fynbos, ostrich antics and local hospitality. A place where you can travel along routes where you are often alone on the open road or make for the malls and beaches Golden vineyards, sun-drenched orchards, pin-drop-silent forests, sweeping lakes and birds eye view passes add to the mix.
OVERNIGHT: Fancourt Manor House - Homewood Suite
GOLF: Today play Pinnacle Point. Magnificently perched atop staggering cliffs, this windswept course three hours east of Cape Town and a half hour south of George marks a major addition to South Africa’s already world-class golf scene. Six of the holes play across deep chasms to greens that seem to float in the Indian Ocean. The yawning ravines and distant horizons can make 150-yard shots look like twice that length. On the par-four eighth, tee and green sit on opposing bluffs; big hitters can attempt an all-or-nothing carry with the hope of having an easy wedge in or play it safe by bailing out left and facing a much longer approach. (Cart fee included)
SIGHTSEEING: Head down to Pinnacle Point with the golfers where you have the opportunity to explore the cave complex underneath this clifftop golf course. This guided tour of The Pinnacle Point Caves in Mossel Bay have revealed the world’s earliest evidence of man’s modern behaviour dating back 164 000 years ago. Discoveries in the system of 15 or more caves has been described as a huge step for mankind going back in history, as it was previously believed man’s complex thinking and behaviour dated back to 40 000 years ago in Eurasia. Findings from the caves have been featured in the prestigious Science and Nature journals, and it is now one of the most well-funded archaeological sites in the world. After lunch in the club you will have a chance to tour some local museums before returning to Fancourt.
OVERNIGHT: Fancourt Manor House - Homewood Suite
GOLF: Today play Fancourt - The Links. Ranked #1 in South Africa. Created from a previously flat piece of land, over 700 000 cubic metres of earth was moved in transforming it into a typical Links style. The course presents undulating windswept terrain and dune-style landscape and is the only such course in South Africa. Every hole has received detailed attention to ensure that the overall balance in terms of length, position of hazards and shot values are in harmony. As a result, The Links presents a stern test in all weather conditions. This is a walking course with caddies. Host course of the 2003 Presidents Cup, 2005 Women's World Cup and 2006 South African Open. Carts are only available with a medical note and must stay on the cart paths at all times.
