<Thu, July 11 2 nights ~ The Ugadale Cottages
<Fri, July 12 ~ Machrihanish Golf Club
Today play the magnificent championship links course at, Machrihanish (tbc). Found beside the Atlantic on the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, Old Tom Morris had an early hand yet again on one of Scotland’s most beloved links. There was a ten-hole layout here originally, but it was 1879 when Old Tom’s eighteen-hole layout opened. His first hole is played to today from an elevated tee to a fairway angling diagonally way. Carry as much of Machrihanish Bay as you dare but play too safe and 3 pot bunkers right of the fairway will turn this 424-yard par four into a five. Its one of the most thrilling starts you’ll ever experience. The entire layout is solid all of which is enhanced by its remoteness. Golf pilgrims will find it well worth the journey.

<Sat, July 13 ~ Machrihanish Dunes
Today play Machrihanish Dunes (tbc). Found on the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, neighboring the venerable Machrihanish Golf Club, David McLay Kidd (Bandon Dunes, Castle Course at St Andrews) was commissioned to fashion the first new links in west Scotland in 100 years without being permitted to alter the dunescape in any significant way. All 259 acres lie within a Site of Special Scientific Interest meaning this layout is as natural as they get. The fairways are as they were found. Bunkers are found burrowing animals created them. Opened in 2009, this par 72 stretches to 7,082 yards among incredible expanses of grass covered dunes as a modern throwback to golf origins.

Your Itinerary
Set in the dunes of Islay, Queen of the Hebrides, The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links enjoys an enviable location, nestled beside seven miles of pristine beach in the Inner Hebrides. After a complete renovation and expansion, The Machrie Hotel has 47 beautifully designed rooms, suites and lodges, some with their own outdoor terraces and stunning views across the Links. The hotel offers visitors many places to meet and relax including 18, our impressive restaurant with panoramic views of the Links, as well as a PureGray Spa. The Links course was originally designed in 1891 by Willie Campbell, but has now been fully modernised by D J Russell, the former European Ryder Cup Vice Captain and PGA tour player. The dramatic setting of Laggan Bay has few equals and the ever changing nature of the challenge offered by this acclaimed layout make The Machrie one to play. The scenery, the wildlife, the coastline, one of the finest Links courses in the world, coupled with the people and of course its positioning makes The Machrie the perfect spot from which to explore the Isles of Scotland’s west coast.
<Sun, July 14 ~ The Machrie Links
Golf today at The Machrie Links (tbc). The Isle of Islay, southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides, found about 20 nautical miles west of the Kintyre Peninsula, is home to The Machrie. If a fabulously remote luxury golf resort with nine exceptional malt whisky distilleries only several to 20 miles away strikes your fancy, this is your dream. The par 72 course is a treat at 6,782 yards. Golf dates to 1891 but in 2017 it reopened after a major modernization including the addition of a six-hole short course. The fairways are wider now and several of the blind shots have been removed but make no mistake this is a classic links.

<Mon, July 15 3 nights ~ Trump Turnberry
Your Itinerary
The world renowned Trump Turnberry overlooks Scotland's South West Ayrshire coast. Contained within 360 acres this luxury hotel, golf and leisure resort with few equals in the world. Turnberry's spectacular Ailsa course was chosen for The Open in 1977, 1986, 1994 and 2009. The Hotel was built at the turn of the century and underwent a complete renovation, restoration and remodeling of all guestrooms, suites, corridors, restaurants and public spaces that was completed in June 2016. The famous Ailsa Course was also overhauled with significant changes made to the links, including incredible improvements from holes 9 to 11. The changes are set to further enhance its reputation as one of the finest links courses in the world. Turnberry has a lavish Spa, with indoor and outdoor amenities, which reopened in 2017. Nearby are riding stables, sea and river fishing, rough shooting, stalking, and trap shooting.
<Tue, July 16 ~ Prestwick Golf Club
Play today at Prestwick (tbc). Only the Old Course has hosted The Open more often than Prestwick, the last of 24 played here was in 1925. Eleven of the first twelve Opens were played on Old Tom Morris’ twelve-hole layout beginning in 1860. Six holes were added in 1883. One of the club’s great strengths is variety. There are blind shots. Uphill holes and those that play downhill and sidehill. Greens in hollows and plateau greens. Driveable par fours and those you’ll be delighted to reach in two. Perhaps most famous is “Alps” the 394-yard 17th. The narrow fairway runs straight up a steep sandhill which hides a generous green guarded in front by the notorious “Sahara” bunker framed with revetted sod and railroad ties interrupted only by wooden steps to allow you in and out.

<Wed, July 17 ~ Trump Turnberry
Play the Ailsa Course (tbc) at Turnberry. You can’t rush perfection, Turnberry’s Ailsa Course is proof. It was established in 1902, modified in 1906, modified again in 1909, redesigned in 1938 then nearly disappeared after the Second World War when it was converted into an airbase with several holes flattened into concrete runways. It was restored and reopened in 1951 as one of Scotland’s finest links to the extent it hosted The Open for the first time in 1977 when Tom Watson’s 65-65 weekend beat Jack Nicklaus’ 65-66. MacKenzie & Ebert made extensive alterations before The Open in 2009 then Ebert returned for a major update in 2015. The result is spectacular, particularly but by no means limited to holes 9-11 that play across and along the bay atop rock outcrops on the left; dunes, pot bunkers and high fescue on the right. The club’s famous lighthouse includes an incredible two-bedroom suite and one of the most memorable halfway houses in golf.

After golf visit Springbank Distillery. Founded in 1828, Springbank is Scotland oldest family owned distillery. Fiercely independent, their Single Malts are produced using traditional Victorian techniques and equipment. A visit to Springbank is a must for any whisky fan. Traditional floor maltings, open topped mash tun, a belt driven mill, boatskin larch wash backs, and a direct fired wash still combine to produce the most ''handcrafted'' whisky on the market Springbank uses 100% Scottish Barley, including an increasing proportion of local barley. The barley is malted, then distilled, matured and bottled on site. Three different Single Malts are produced using three different production techniques. Springbank is lightly peated and distilled two and-a-half times. Longrow is heavily peated and distilled twice and Hazelburn is unpeated and triple distilled.

Islay is famous for its malt whiskys and has nine working distilleries on the island making the malt whisky industry one of the most important sources of income for the island. Enjoy a tour to one or more of the 9 working distilleries on the Isle of Islay. Choose from Kilchoman, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bowmore, Ardbeg, Bunnahabhain, Bruichladdich, Caol Ila or Ardnahoe.
By way of example, Bowmore is Islay's oldest distillery, and it is here that you will see traditional whisky making in its full glory, from the rare sight of the malting of the barley, to the peat fired kilns, to the famous warehouses by the shores of Loch Indaal. The elegant Visitor Centre provides the ultimate in deep comfort, the ideal place to linger, and admire the views across Loch Indaal. You are guaranteed the warmest of welcomes at Bowmore and, of course, a taste of what is regarded as one of the world's finest single malts.
The Bunnahabhain (pronounced Bu-na-ha-venn) Distillery rests peacefully on the sheltered north-eastern coast of Islay, overlooking stunning views out to the Paps of Jura (a range of hills on a sister island). This quietly remote and inoffensive area provides great solitude for all who visit her, an idyllic place for Scotch whisky distillation. It was built late 19th century, in 1881, close to the mouth of the Margadale River, hence the name (Bunnahabhain means "mouth of the river" from the Gaelic tongue). The Bunnahabhain 12 year old is quite distinct from the other single malts of the island, given the wonderfully gentle taste profile for which it is known.

Important Information
Handicap Certificate: Most courses require visitors to be a member of a recognized golf club and to hold official handicaps, with some courses imposing a maximum handicap restriction. PerryGolf endorses this viewpoint and recommends that players travel with a valid handicap certificate from their golf club which they may be required to produce.
Caddies: If you request caddies on your Reservation form, PerryGolf will make a request for caddies to each club in advance of your visit. PerryGolf enjoys a fine relationship with many golf clubs, and while each Club will do all they can to provide caddies, they cannot be guaranteed. If you have requested a Caddie on your Reservation Form and the golf club subsequently provides a caddie or bag carrier you are required to make full payment for their services.
