PerryGolf is proud to partner with Azamara® for an exceptional 12-night, 5-round golf and sightseeing voyage to South Africa. This cruise with less than 700 guests onboard the outstanding Azamara Quest begins and ends in Cape Town, and during the cruise we will visit Durban, Richards Bay, Port Elizabeth, and Mossel Bay. This voyage presents the perfect opportunity to leave the northern hemisphere’s winter behind for the sunshine and long daylight hours of a Southern Hemisphere summer!  As well as outstanding golf, our itinerary includes a number of overnight stays in port, allowing additional time to visit these areas.

Explore the diverse and cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, visiting its many iconic attractions, including the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. Consider Joining us on our 5-night pre-cruise extension to allow greater time in Cape Town plus an opportunity to explore Hermanus and the winelands of Stellenbosch.

Our golf during the cruise is spectacular. The lineup includes rounds at the highly rated courses of Durban Country Club, Zimbali Resort Humewood Golf Club, the spectacular Pinnacle Point set high above the Indian Ocean, and Cape Town’s magnificent Pearl Valley.  In order to access South Africa’s finest golf courses, and to better experience the country, our golf program also includes an easy one-night off-ship stay at the beautiful Capital Zimbali Resort, with breakfast, lunch, dinner & drinks included.

Azamara Quest which serves as our perfect floating boutique hotel and clubhouse, is a small-sized luxury vessel nimble enough to access smaller ports yet large enough to provide every amenity you would expect, from a choice of fine dining and live entertainment to a well-equipped gym and full-service spa. Forty-six suites are available with English butler style service which routinely book early. Sailing schedules often include extended stays in port plus the occasional overnight which creates a truly immersive experience. Better still, these cruises are inclusive of a selection of beer, spirits, soft drinks, bottled water, specialty coffees plus wine with lunch and dinner along with gratuities for housekeeping, dining and bar staff. Azamara also proudly boasts two unique signature events on each cruise - AzAmazing Evening℠ and the White Night party – complimentary to all guests and consistently well received.

Every aspect of the golf program is fully managed by PerryGolf staff onboard and ashore. Your clubs will be ready and waiting at each venue. Tee times and pairings arranged and posted in advance. A convenient transportation schedule allows suitable time to warm up at the range, and to make the almost inevitable pro shop merchandise purchase. Carts are always included, subject to availability. A friendly competition is staged at a selected course, with prizes awarded at our farewell gathering. A snack lunch is included on-course plus an open bar operates in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the round. Our typical guest list which brings together like-minded individuals, generally numbers between 40 and 50, with new friendships invariably formed during each cruise. Many guests are golfing couples but an equal number are golfers travelling with a non-golfing spouse. Specially arranged onboard golf group social functions, to which all accompanying non-golfing spouses are most warmly welcomed, further enhances the club-like environment. The award winning Azamara Shore Excursions® program, offering a wide variety of offship excursions, also caters beautifully our non-golfing guests during days when our golfing excursions are underway.

The “2025 South African Golf Cruise” is a genuinely full-featured vacation and a unique opportunity to enjoy yourself in the company of like-minded new friends!

Erinvale hosted the 1996 World Cup of Golf (Won by Ernie Els and Wayne Westner) and the SA Open in 2002 and 2003.

NON-GOLFERS:  Robben Island Tour. Depart from Cape Town’s Victoria & Alfred Waterfront by ferry for a 30-minute trip across Table Bay to Robben (Seal) Island. This World Heritage Site and South Africa’s most revered national monument was a prison for some 450 years, for convicts, slaves, exiled Eastern princes, lepers, the insane and those punished for resisting oppressive rule. Among its more famous inmates was 19th Century tribal chief, Makhanda, who lost his life attempting to escape by boat across the Bay, and South Africa’s first democratic president, Nelson Mandela, who spent 2 decades of his life here along with some 3000 other political detainees. This stirring tour is led by guides (some of whom were once inmates) and includes a visit to the Prison Block and the infamous Limestone Quarry, where prisoners toiled, as well as a drive around the island with it breathtaking views across the bay. Return by ferry to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, and enjoy spectacular views of the city and Table Mountain (weather permitting).

Head along the False Bay coast to Boulders Beach near Simonstown to see a colony of African Penguins and then continue past the seaside resorts of False Bay, towards the city. The last stop of the day is Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, for a walk through one of the largest collections of indigenous plants in the world.

Return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter, for a walk through the Company Gardens, the fresh produce gardens for ships and locals from the mid 17th Century and today, home to the SA Museum, Cultural History Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St George’s Cathedral. Stroll through the city to Greenmarket Square to browse African mementos at its bustling market stalls.

Golf Schedule

Durban image

In any golfer's books, Durban Country Club rates as one of the finest courses in the world, let alone Africa, or even South Africa. The course lies adjacent to the beach onto which the Indian Ocean gently pushes its waves, separated only by a freeway linking the Northern suburbs with the city. It has a merry mix of tall trees, thick bush, severe slopes, undulating fairways that sometimes resemble rolling waves, and some very clever tee positions, with the ever penalizing bunkers lying in wait.

Zimbali image

Designed by former British Open Champion, Tom Weiskopf. The course is both challenging and superbly beautiful, made more so by the proximity to the Indian Ocean. The course is spread over a large estate with dramatic elevation changes. Weiskopf did a tremendous job routing the holes through the jungle. There are several blind tee shots that could be unsettling to the first time visitor, however, Weiskopf ably allowed ample room in most fairways to enable the golfer to be in position to play the hole.

Humewood image

Enamored with the Old Course at St. Andrews, the architect Colonel S.V. Hotchkin set out to emulate the links layout when hired in 1929 to design Humewood. The Colonel put a twist on the familiar links of the British Isles, however, straying from the nine holes out, nine holes in routing and angling holes in every direction. This creates a fascinating experience atop the sand dunes of Algoa Bay, as golfers battle cross breezes, avoiding steep-faced bunkers and maneuvering along the firm turf.

Pinnacle Point image

The renowned architect Peter Matkovich put it best, describing the property at Pinnacle Point by saying, ‘this is the most dramatic golf course site I’ve ever encountered anywhere in the world.’ It’s difficult to argue with his assessment. Set high above the Indian Ocean, providing sensational, breathtaking views of the crystal blue water from across the course, this is truly a magnificent and memorable design. In all seven holes run parallel to the ocean shore. The home hole is a fierce risk-reward par-5.

Pearl Valley image

Set in the famous Franschhoek Wine region, this Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is a treat to play. Pearl Valley is considered one of the top conditioned courses. As with many Nicklaus courses, water on the right with plenty of sand, will keep the golfers minds off the wide landing areas provided. The course and it's geographical location allow for guests to enjoy a day outing in the Winelands with high quality golf to compliment the food and wine.

Erinvale image

This Gary Player designed championship golf course is a treat that quickly gained renown throughout the golfing world upon opening in 1995. Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains, few courses can compete with the views offered by Erinvale. A tough, yet flat front nine prepares golfers for the hilly back nine where the course really livens up. Huge bent grass greens and bunkers that only Player could think of are hallmarks. Hosted South African Open and World Cup of Golf.

De Zalze Winelands image

Set on the Spier De Zalze Wine Estate, Spier (Afrikaans meaning Pure) is a fairly new course with some of the best golf holes in the Cape. As host club to the 2006 Eisenhower Trophy, Spier prides itself in tremendous playing surfaces and excellent overall golf experience. The first three and last two holes are superb golf holes with the Blaauwklippen River coming into play on all five holes. Tremendous design by Matkovich, who also designed Arabella and Pinnacle Point.

<Durban

In any golfer's books, Durban Country Club rates as one of the finest courses in the world, let alone Africa, or even South Africa. The course lies adjacent to the beach onto which the Indian Ocean gently pushes its waves, separated only by a freeway linking the Northern suburbs with the city. It has a merry mix of tall trees, thick bush, severe slopes, undulating fairways that sometimes resemble rolling waves, and some very clever tee positions, with the ever penalizing bunkers lying in wait.

<Zimbali

Designed by former British Open Champion, Tom Weiskopf. The course is both challenging and superbly beautiful, made more so by the proximity to the Indian Ocean. The course is spread over a large estate with dramatic elevation changes. Weiskopf did a tremendous job routing the holes through the jungle. There are several blind tee shots that could be unsettling to the first time visitor, however, Weiskopf ably allowed ample room in most fairways to enable the golfer to be in position to play the hole.

<Humewood

Enamored with the Old Course at St. Andrews, the architect Colonel S.V. Hotchkin set out to emulate the links layout when hired in 1929 to design Humewood. The Colonel put a twist on the familiar links of the British Isles, however, straying from the nine holes out, nine holes in routing and angling holes in every direction. This creates a fascinating experience atop the sand dunes of Algoa Bay, as golfers battle cross breezes, avoiding steep-faced bunkers and maneuvering along the firm turf.

<Pinnacle Point

The renowned architect Peter Matkovich put it best, describing the property at Pinnacle Point by saying, ‘this is the most dramatic golf course site I’ve ever encountered anywhere in the world.’ It’s difficult to argue with his assessment. Set high above the Indian Ocean, providing sensational, breathtaking views of the crystal blue water from across the course, this is truly a magnificent and memorable design. In all seven holes run parallel to the ocean shore. The home hole is a fierce risk-reward par-5.

<Pearl Valley

Set in the famous Franschhoek Wine region, this Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is a treat to play. Pearl Valley is considered one of the top conditioned courses. As with many Nicklaus courses, water on the right with plenty of sand, will keep the golfers minds off the wide landing areas provided. The course and it's geographical location allow for guests to enjoy a day outing in the Winelands with high quality golf to compliment the food and wine.
image

<Erinvale

This Gary Player designed championship golf course is a treat that quickly gained renown throughout the golfing world upon opening in 1995. Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains, few courses can compete with the views offered by Erinvale. A tough, yet flat front nine prepares golfers for the hilly back nine where the course really livens up. Huge bent grass greens and bunkers that only Player could think of are hallmarks. Hosted South African Open and World Cup of Golf.

<De Zalze Winelands

Set on the Spier De Zalze Wine Estate, Spier (Afrikaans meaning Pure) is a fairly new course with some of the best golf holes in the Cape. As host club to the 2006 Eisenhower Trophy, Spier prides itself in tremendous playing surfaces and excellent overall golf experience. The first three and last two holes are superb golf holes with the Blaauwklippen River coming into play on all five holes. Tremendous design by Matkovich, who also designed Arabella and Pinnacle Point.

<Lanzerac Hotel

Situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Stellenbosch, the Lanzerac Estate is a 300 year old private working wine estate in the Jonkershoek Valley. The hotel’s rooms, restaurants, bars, lounges and spa facilities are amidst dramatic mountain ranges, endless rows of lush vineyards and hectares of award-winning landscaped gardens. Lanzerac offers unprecedented world-class hospitality and outstanding service. Epicureans can indulge in a kaleidoscope of dishes, from local fare to the most delectable international cuisine. The Lanzerac Spa & Wellness Centre offers the perfect retreat, where one can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and take time out to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.

<V & A Hotel

Framed by the ocean and Table Mountain, the elegance and luxury of the Victoria & Alfred Hotel is rivaled only by its relaxed atmosphere and warm personal service. Built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse and converted in 1990 to a luxury hotel, it is named in honor of the Queen of England and her son who visited the Cape in 1870, when Prince Alfred officially opened the Breakwater basin, today's Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. The hotel consists of just 68 spacious, air-conditioned, en-suite rooms with separate bath, shower and toilet. Coffee and tea making facilities, private bar, safe, trouser press, DVD player, satellite television and wireless internet in every single room, Ultra comfortable, with king sized beds, creatively-styled and well-appointed, on just two floors. Important Information

Golf Handicap Limit: The golf courses we play around the world offer varying challenges. Players often require to be of a certain standard to properly and fully experience them in the company of likeminded fellow golfers. We therefore set a maximum permitted golf handicap to participate on our tours and cruises; The maximums are 28 for men and 36 for ladies.

Golf Courses: The included list may be subject to change in the event of any club accepting any conflicting national or international event, or for any other reason. Should such a situation occur, PerryGolf will endeavour to book a course of comparable standard, and all booked guests would be notified of the change and replacement venue at the earliest opportunity.

Transfers: No transfers are included to or from the ship at arrival/departure airports.
