New Golf – Castle Stuart Golf Club

Historically golf courses in the British Isles take a number of seasons to grow in and the comments we hear from travelers will generally be, “I enjoyed it but a bit raw”. The reality of a short growing season causes everything to take a little longer than many places in the USA to mature. Enter Castle Stuart which is the brainchild of one of the original developers of Kingsbarns near St.Andrews. The reviews since opening in July, 2009 from PerryGolf clients have been universally excellent. Links Magazine have a wonderful article on this great new addition to the Scottish golf scene. My sense is that it will be recognized as one of the great additions to Scottish golf in the months and years ahead. To view the article, click here.

Classic Golf – Ballybunion Old Course

If the Old Couse at St. Andrews is forever the one golf course in Scotland that everyone wants to play at some stage in their lives…then Ballybunion surely holds the same coveted place in Irish golf. I have been fortunate to play Ballybunion a number of times over the years, it is a fine course which really comes to life after you make the turn back towards the clubhouse. LINKS Magazine has a very engaging story on this Irish masterpiece. Click here to view.

Chez Rouz in Inverness

Opened in April, 2009 Chez Roux in Inverness is located within the Rocpool Reserve Hotel www.rocpool.com. The owner is the renowned chef Albert Roux OBE. As part of our ongoing process we always seek feedback from clients on all of their travel experiences and without exception this restaurant has received rave reviews from PerryGolf clients.

In addition to an extremely high quality of dining experience, clients have commented on the excellent value for money and the wine list also reasonably priced. The website provides much detail with menus and prices.

In addition to smaller groups who have dined there we had a group of 20 travelers in July who were visiting some of the finest establishments in Scotland and all commented that Chez Rouz was their very best meal.

If you have not been to Inverness in recent years it is worth a visit. Much has changed in the city and it has a contemporary buzz to it.

Cellar Restaurant – St. Andrews

The Cellar Restaurant is a favorite of mine and is one of the finest Seafood Restaurants in Scotland. A short drive from St.Andrews you will find it tucked behind Anstruther’s Scottish Fisheries Museum, just off the harbour front. You enter the 17th century listed building via a pretty cobbled courtyard garden, before receiving a warm welcome from owners Peter and Susan Jukes. With its original beams, tiled floor and candle-lit tables, the dining room provides the perfect setting for a great night out.
