Located in County Donegal, Ireland, Rosapenna Golf Club dates back to 1893 and offers two championship links courses – Old Tom Morris Links and Sandy Hills Links. In many ways, Pat Ruddy’s 2003 design – Sandy Hills – is the ideal of a modern links course and in a relatively short lifespan has nonetheless been a fantastic addition to Ireland’s already world renowned links courses.
This par 71 links course measures over 7,200 yards from the tips – just over 6,300 from the white tees – and features narrow fairways with deceptively wide landing areas. Winding through sand dunes like those near the Giant’s Causeway, elevated tees and greens offer spectacular views toward the Sheephaven Bay from nearly every hole.
Sandy Hills Links has attracted many of the world’s greatest golfers such as Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell. If you’re looking for the best of the best in Northwest Ireland, Sandy Hills is a must-play.
