Truly it’s remarkable that the game of golf continues to revolve around the course that gave it birth over 600 years ago. One of the oldest golf courses in the world, the Old Course at St Andrews is referred to by many as the “Home of Golf.”
Carnoustie Golf Links is a 45 minute drive north of St Andrews. Carnoustie’s Championship Course has hosted The Open Championship on seven occasions, most recently in 2007. It is set to host the 147th Open Championship in 2018.
Located in the Scottish Highlands, Royal Dornoch Golf Club is a true links style course. There is evidence of golf in 1616 Dornoch but the formal founding of the club is with a nine hole layout in 1877.
Located in North Ayrshire about 10 minutes from Troon, Western Gailes Golf Club is considered by many as the hidden gem of Scottish links. Dating back to 1897, the club provides a combination of the traditional and modern style links.
Nairn Golf Club is nestled on the shores of the Moray Firth less than 20 miles northeast of Inverness. Like so many of Scotland’s most respected courses, it’s a descendant of Old Tom Morris and James Braid.
