The Meldrum House is a fantastic country house style property located to the north west of Aberdeen, Scotland. It’s in the ideal location if your next stop is the Dornoch / Castle Stuart / Nain region, as you’re already on the correct side of Aberdeen, while it’s a very handy base for the best courses in the Aberdeen area; being only 25-45 minutes drive from Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay and Trump International.
There are 9 rooms in the original house; each of which is an excellent size, and decorated to a very high standard, with all the mod-cons you’d expect in a top quality hotel such as discreet pop up TV’s and monsoon showers. Despite this, the rooms manage to keep a very classic feel to them making it an ideal place to stay if you’re looking for a castle-type experience.
There are a further 13 rooms in the Stables which are separate from the main building but less than 50 yards away, so access to dining and the main house is no problem. Again, all rooms are built to a very high standard, have wooden beamed ceilings – which is a nice touch – and are tastefully decorated to give a homely feel to them. These rooms are more modern in décor than the rooms in the main house, but are equally as nice.
Other plus points about the property are the fact that it has its own golf course (an excellent parkland course) so for anyone staying there who wishes more golf, look no further, and Glen Garioch Distillery is only a couple of minutes away so it’s well worth a visit if you’re staying at Meldrum House.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the property for the first time, and having been very impressed, I will no doubt be recommending it to future clients, whether it’s just one couple looking to stay in a castle-type property, or a group of guys looking for a high quality property within easy reach of the region’s golf courses.
