The Kings Club at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness

The Kings Club at the Kingsmills Hotel
The Kings Club at the Kingsmills Hotel

The Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness is the perfect place to be based when playing the three great courses of the Scottish Highlands, Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Castle Stuart.  The hotel has recently added The Kings Club, which is a separate building around a hundred yards from the main hotel.  It is perfect for couples and groups of guys alike with luxurious and spacious bedrooms decorated in tasteful warm colours.  All of the rooms are identical and all have either a balcony or a patio depending on which floor they are on.

Whilst the fact the reception area adjoins the restaurant, which I thought was slightly strange and could spoil the evening ambience (it does work well for breakfast) there’s another dining option in the main hotel, so this feature doesn’t detract too much from the quality of the Kings Club.  With it being in the perfect location to commute to the golf courses, and with Inverness city centre nearby, it makes sense that almost anyone going to this area stays there.  As the main hotel is only a slightly less expensive option, and with the Kings Club being so impressive, I’d urge anyone staying in Inverness to opt for the more modern and luxurious option as you won’t be disappointed.

Best Golf Course in the World?

Donald Trump
Donald Trump

Being based in Scotland, we watch developments with Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire project with particular interest, and it seems like the project is finally getting underway now.  This will no doubt be a great addition to an area that already boasts some fantastic courses such as Royal Aberdeen (host to 2011 Walker Cup matches), it’s lesser known hidden gem of a neighbour, Murcar; and, of course Cruden Bay only 45 minutes up the coast.  As for Mr Trump’s claim that it will be the “world’s greatest golf course”, that remains to be seen!  He has pretty tough competition on his doorstep never mind the rest of the world.

Fairmont Hotels Open New Accommodation in South Africa

Fairmont Hotels have recently opened a new hotel in South Africa; the Fairmont Zimbali Resort joins the Fairmont Zimbali Lodge which is set nearby along the beach.  The hotel’s golf course is currently under construction, but once the 18-hole course (which has been designed by Gary Player) opens, it will be a “must” to add to your schedule.

Fairmont Hotels are known worldwide for their excellent service, and we are pleased to see this addition to the group.
