Some good news for golf in New Zealand

Given all of the tough  breaks that Christchurch, on the east coast of the South Island has endured in recent times, it is heartening to see a new golf development proceeding according to this recent article. New Zealand is truly a magnificent country with wonderful scenery, great golf, outstanding accommodations, superb wine and most importantly populated by charming, friendly people.

I have no doubt that the recent turmoil in New Zealand has affected their tourism industry. We can only hope that more good news like this in the pipeline. The recent GOLF Magazine Top 100 poll recognized Cape Kidnappers as #33 in the World as ultimately it is the cumulative effect of small pieces of information that generally help shape travelers destination of choice.

An eventful day here in northwest Ireland.  A whole lotta day. The day-to-day existence of The Golf Road Warrior might sound, well, sorta cushy if viewed from a distance. But the pace is unrelentingly, if purposely, grueling. Let me give you the blow by blow of our Saturday here in County Donegal, using the 24-hour clock that pervades here

Queenstown Benefits from Two Hilton Hotels

Further to my post last May noting that Hilton were planning to open a hotel in Queenstown, they have thought better of this and decided to open not one hotel, but two in the Adrenaline sports hot spot. You can see further details by clicking here.

It should be noted that Queenstown is not just for the thrill seekers – there are some great courses including Jack’s Point and Millbrook, and just up the road in Arrowtown, you will find The Hills – which until recently was home to the New Zealand Open.  It is also a great base from which to travel to the stunningly beautiful Milford Sound and has some excellent wineries on its doorstep.

The Chef’s Garden at Villa d’Este

I have previously blogged that I believe when on travel to Italy, a cooking class must be top of the list.  If you are staying at Villa d’Este you can attend The Chef’s Garden which is located on the panoramic hillside leading to the Statue of Hercules and Lica.  Cooking lessons, using fresh ingredients from the garden, are available on request; and after your lesson, a wine tasting is recommended to finish off your evening!
