Kingsbarns Golf Links Rated by Golf Digest Magazine

As a firm favourite of the PerryGolf team, we were delighted – but not surprised – to read that Golf Digest Magazine has ranked Kingsbarns Golf Links as 12th on their “Top 50 Links in Great Britain & Ireland”.

Previous accolades include “Best New International Course” in 2000 as awarded by Golf Digest and the ranking of 46th place in Golf Magazine’s World Rankings in 2001.  The course was also listed by Golf World as 13th in the British Isles in 2002.

In the PerryGolf office rankings, Kingsbarns would definitely be found in the Top 10!

Ondine Win Accolade

Ondine is situated in the centre of Edinburgh’s old town and has been endorsed by many of our clients who have stayed in and around Scotland’s capital.  They have just recently been announced as the regional winner for Scotland in The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year awards; voted for by diners.

Owner of Ondine, Roy Brett, said of the win: “This is fantastic news…Over the last 20 months we’ve all worked hard to establish Ondine as a great dining destination with a special atmosphere to match,  I’m glad our efforts have been recognised by the critics, by the customers and now by one of Britain’s most prestigious food guides”.

At the restaurant you will find an outstanding selection of quality seafood with the added feature of the crustacean bar where fresh seafood and shellfish are prepared in front of diners.

Make sure you add this restaurant to your list of places to dine next time you travel to Edinburgh.

Andrew Fairlie Sources ‘Home-Grown’ Produce

Andrew Fairlie

Scotland’s only 2 Michelin-starred restaurant, Andrew Fairlie @ Gleneagles, boasts not only locally sourced produce from all over Scotland but also organically reared lamb which Andrew’s brother Jim rears on Harrietfield Farm; his own property close to Edinburgh.  Click here to read on.

Andrew Fairlie’s restaurant is a good enough reason alone to make a stay at Gleneagles a priority while vacationing in Scotland.

Advance reservations at the restaurant are essential as it is always busy – your Golf Travel Specialist would be pleased to make these reservations on your behalf.

Links Magazine’s Spectacular 10

Links Magazine recently published its list of the top 10 most spectacular courses in world golf; and it makes for interesting reading with Old Head Golf Links in Ireland finishing in top position.  Located just south of Cork, Old Head stands on cliff tops in a remote location that’ll make you feel like you’re on the edge of the world.  Another notable course on the list is Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, China which is an 8,500 yard course built 3000 feet above sea level.  I had the pleasure of playing it in 2008 and, whilst it’s the longest course I’ve ever played (by some distance), the altitude meant I’ve never hit drives so far in my life…which made for great fun!   The top ten as positioned by Links Magazine is:

  1. Old Head Golf Links, Ireland
  2. Cypress Point Club, California
  3. Cape Kidnappers, New Zealand
  4. Black Mesa Golf Club, New Mexico
  5. Pebble Beach Golf Links, California
  6. Whistling Straits, Wisconsin
  7. Weihai Point, China
  8. Pinnacle Point, South Africa
  9. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, China
  10. Cabo Del Sol, Mexico
