Even for a legend like Jack Nicklaus, the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles Hotel was a challenge. It had to be special set as it is in the heart of Scotland, and on a site Nicklaus described as “The finest parcel of land in the world I have ever been given to work with.”
The expectations were enormous. The results are exceptional. PGA Centenary is a parkland treasure with the usual Nicklaus features – huge corridors, large undulating greens, bold bunkering and of course, a tempting number of risk and reward opportunities.
In preparation for the 2014 Ryder Cup the course re opened in April 2012 after a 6 month renovation where 50,000 tons of earth was moved, 322,000 square feet of turf was laid and SubAir was installed.
Today the golf course is simply one the finest resort layouts in one of the most spectacular settings you’ll ever play. It’s a big one too so you might want to think about getting a buggy!
